“Tungsten Bulbs” by Sayan Aich Bhowmik

I have always wondered

About the mood,

Inside houses that dress themselves

In yellow tungsten bulbs,

Once evening descends

Like children running down the stairs.

Flowers of Van Gogh yellow,

Hanging from electric sockets,

Like sunflowers cast out of their clan.

In some hidden corner,

You might find, old photographs,

Looking more aged and senile

Under the yellow light of regret

And under the light of yellowed years.

By the time, the family is at dinner

The lights start dozing.

Even though they are the cheap ones

They still need their sleep.
