“Advice for Young Lovers” by Thom Young

try hate later on

after the kids are out of the house

or have moved back home

from wasted money at state college.

go to a wedding once a year

to remember love costs more

than a cake and a cross eyed

flower girl.

watch baseball but go for the National League

when in doubt.

adpot a cat that hates you

this will be easy.

read and write poetry

and the worse  the better,

it might make you famous

so you can keep a mynah bird

in a cage

to cook you scrambled eggs

and laugh at your bad jokes.
